Central NY man accused of raping underage girl

Rome, N.Y. — A man who the Onieda County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating for several months was arrested Wednesday on charges of rape and criminal sex acts, deputies said.
Mackenzie Mantelli, 35, was accused of having sexual contact with a girl who was less than 17 years old, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
In July, the sheriff’s office and Rome police started investigating a report that a girl had been subjected to sexual contact starting in January 2023. Mantelli was later revealed as the person who sexually abused the girl, they said.
Mantelli was indicted by a grand jury on charges of rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child. The Oneida County Court issued a warrant for Mantelli and he was arrested Wednesday.
Mantelli was arraigned in Oneida County Court, and he is being held in the Oneida County Jail on $20,000 bail.
